It clamps onto standard 20mm RIS/RAS Picatinny rails, which are found on the vast majority of airsoft AEGs.

Do I need tools to fit it?

Only a basic clamp screw is involved. It attaches to the underside of your handguard rail without any permanent modification.

Will a vertical grip actually help my shooting?

Yes. A vertical foregrip gives a more natural wrist angle, steadier hold and better muzzle control, especially on heavier or longer replicas.
