The law in plain English
In England and Wales an air rifle developing under 12 ft/lb of energy (and an air pistol under 6 ft/lb) is not classed as a firearm and needs no certificate, you just have to be 18 or over to buy one. More powerful air rifles do need a firearms certificate, and we do not sell FAC-rated airguns. Always transport an air rifle in a suitable bag or case, out of public view, and never carry it in a public place without good reason.

Do I need a licence to buy an air rifle?
No, not for an air rifle under 12 ft/lb (or an air pistol under 6 ft/lb) in England and Wales. You must be 18 or over. More powerful airguns require a firearms certificate, which we do not deal in.
.177 or .22, which calibre should I choose?
.177 shoots flatter and is popular for target shooting and field target. .22 hits harder at shorter range and is a common choice for pest control. Come in and we will talk through what suits your use.
