Ultralight wind protection

The Cierzo is about as simple as a hooded shirt gets, and that is the point. Made from 30D ripstop nylon with chainstitched seams for strength, it exists to knock the edge off wind and light showers without adding weight or bulk to your load. At roughly 150g in the standard length it is barely noticeable in a pack.

Stripped back on purpose

There are no zips, no pockets, no toggles and no adjusters. Just a hood, elasticated cuffs and an elasticated hem to keep the wind out. Fewer features means less to snag, less to go wrong and less weight, which is exactly what fast-and-light hikers, bushcrafters and stalkers look for in a wind top.

Packs down tiny

The Cierzo comes with a matching stuff sack and packs down to a very small size, so it lives permanently in the top of a day sack or a jacket pocket ready for when the wind picks up. Pull it on over a base or mid layer and it traps warmth without the clamminess of a heavier shell.

Good to know

This is a lightweight wind layer, not a waterproof. It sheds a light shower and can be given a water-repellent boost with a wash-in DWR treatment, but for sustained rain you will still want a dedicated waterproof. Used within its remit it is a genuinely useful, packable extra layer.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Cierzo waterproof?

No. It is an ultralight wind layer that sheds light showers. You can improve its water repellency with a wash-in DWR treatment, but for sustained rain you will still need a dedicated waterproof.

How small does it pack?

Very small. It comes with a matching stuff sack and compresses down to a tiny bundle, so it fits easily in the top of a day sack or a jacket pocket.

Does it have pockets or a zip?

No. It has been deliberately stripped of zips, pockets, toggles and adjusters to keep the weight and bulk to a minimum. You get a hood, elasticated cuffs and an elasticated hem.

What is it for?

It is a wind layer to pull over a base or mid layer when the wind picks up, ideal for hiking, bushcraft and stalking where packability and low weight matter.

How much does it weigh?

Around 150g in the standard length, thanks to the lightweight 30D ripstop nylon and the minimal, feature-free design.
