Two Radios, One Headset

Most PTT units connect one radio to one headset. The M56 connects two. If you have ever tried to run a squad net and a command net at the same time, you will know the alternative is two headsets, or one earpiece hanging loose, or simply missing half of one net. This solves that properly, with a separate press for each radio so you choose which one you are talking on.

Who Actually Needs This

Team leaders and marshals, mostly. If you are a rifleman on one net you do not need it. If you are the person bridging between your team and whoever is running the game, it is the difference between coordinating and shouting.

The Connectors

Radio side is Kenwood 2 pin, which is the connector on Baofeng and most of the budget radios in common use, so compatibility is broad. Headset side is U174, the standard tactical headset plug. Check both ends against your kit before ordering, because a PTT is entirely defined by its connectors.

The Rest Of The Setup

What does dual comm mean?

Will it work with my radio?

What is U174?

The standard tactical headset connector, sometimes called NATO. Your headset needs that plug for this PTT to work with it.

Do I need two radios to use it?

To use both channels, yes. It will work perfectly well with one radio connected, you just would not be getting the point of it.
