Reliable fire when it matters

The BCB Mini Fireball is a compact flint and striker fire starter built for the times a lighter lets you down. The high quality flint throws a hot shower of sparks that will light tinder in wet, windy or freezing conditions, making it an essential piece of survival kit for bushcrafters, campers and soldiers alike.

Small enough to always carry

At just 8cm long and 40g, the Mini is a cut-down version of BCB’s Grand Fireball that slips easily into a survival tin, pocket or daypack. When space is at a premium, it means you never have to leave your fire-lighting kit behind.

Compass built in

A liquid-filled button compass is set into the handle, giving you a quick emergency bearing without carrying a separate instrument. The sturdy metal striker has a serrated edge that both shreds tinder finely and scrapes the flint for maximum sparks.

Kit that earns its place

Add it to a wider outdoor loadout from our tactical and outdoor range and you have a dependable fire-starting solution for expeditions, camping trips and emergency preparedness.

Frequently asked questions

Does the flint work when wet?

Yes. Unlike matches or lighters, the flint throws sparks even when damp or cold, which is exactly why a firesteel belongs in every survival kit.

How many strikes will it last?

BCB rates the Fireball for long-term use. With sensible technique a single flint gives thousands of strikes, so it will outlast many boxes of matches.

What is the serrated edge on the striker for?

The serrations let you finely shred tinder and scrape the flint aggressively, creating a bigger shower of sparks and more chances of catching a flame per strike.

How accurate is the built-in compass?

It is a liquid-filled button compass for quick emergency bearings and orientation. It is a backup navigation aid rather than a replacement for a full baseplate compass.

How is it different from the Grand Fireball?

The Mini is a smaller, lighter cut-down version. It keeps the same quality flint and compass but uses a separate sturdy metal striker rather than a clip-on striker.
