It is far better than a chemical glow stick. Being LED powered, it simply twists on and off, so you can use it night after night rather than snapping and binning it after one use.

How do I turn it on?

Just twist the body to switch it on, and twist back to turn it off. There are no buttons or switches to fumble with in the dark or with gloves on.
