Serious warmth, sensible price

The Snugpak Sleeper Expedition is an incredibly warm 4-season mummy bag that has become the go-to first bag for cadets, scouts and cold-weather campers. With a comfort rating of -12C and an extreme low of -17C, it delivers cold-night performance that punches well above its price.

Insulation that works when it counts

The bag is filled with Snugpak’s ISOFIBRE, a siliconised hollow synthetic fibre that traps body heat efficiently and, crucially for UK weather, keeps insulating even in damp conditions. Unlike down, it dries fast and is easy to look after.

Built to seal in heat

The mummy shape cuts dead air space so your body warms the bag quickly. An elasticated hood with drawcord and a lined thermal collar seal around your head, while a full-length two-way zip with an insulated baffle lets you vent heat or lock out cold bridges along the zip.

Pack it, pair it, love it

At 2600g it packs into its included compression sack to around 33 x 28cm, ideal for base camp, cadet exercises and vehicle-supported trips. Use it alone or pair it with a jungle blanket for even more warmth. Your only challenge will be leaving it in the morning. Explore more camping and field kit in our outdoor and tactical range.

Frequently asked questions

How cold can I use this bag in?

It has a comfort rating of -12C and an extreme low rating of -17C, making it a genuine 4-season bag. Comfort ratings suit most sleepers in still, dry conditions, so pair it with a good mat and base layers for the coldest nights.

Is the synthetic fill better than down?

For UK conditions, yes for many users. The ISOFIBRE synthetic fill keeps insulating even when damp and dries quickly, unlike down which loses loft when wet. It is also easier to care for and better value.

How small does it pack down?

It packs into its included compression stuff sack to around 33 x 28cm. It is a warm, substantial bag at 2600g, so it is better suited to base camp, cadet and vehicle-supported camping than ultralight backpacking.

Who is this bag aimed at?

It is a popular first step into the Snugpak range and is ideal for cadets, scouts and two to three season campers who want serious warmth at a sensible price without paying for premium down.

Can I make it even warmer?

Yes. The Sleeper Expedition can be used alone or combined with a jungle blanket or liner to boost warmth and keep the inside clean. A quality sleeping mat underneath also makes a big difference to real-world comfort.
