The connector between your battery and your gun matters more than most players realise. This T-Plug conversion kit lets you replace the old Mini-Tamiya connector with a T-Plug, also known as a Deans connector, for a tighter, lower-resistance link that delivers more of your battery’s power where it counts.

Why it makes a difference

Tamiya connectors have a loose fit and a smaller contact area, and they get worse as they wear. A T-Plug mates firmly with far more contact, cutting resistance and voltage drop. The result is often a snappier trigger response, a slightly higher rate of fire and a connector that runs cooler under the high current loads that LiPo batteries can push.

What is in the kit

You get a male and female T-Plug connector pair plus heat-shrink tubing to insulate and strengthen each joint. The convention is male to the gun and female to the battery, which keeps the battery’s live terminals safely shrouded when disconnected. It is a straightforward solder job for anyone comfortable with a soldering iron.

Why switch from Tamiya to T-Plug?

Mini-Tamiya connectors have a loose, higher-resistance fit that gets worse with wear. T-Plug (Deans) connectors mate tightly with more contact area, so more of your battery's power reaches the motor. That usually means better trigger response and slightly higher rate of fire, especially on LiPo.

Which connector goes on the gun and which on the battery?

Standard practice is male to the gun wiring and female to the battery leads. Putting the female on the battery means the exposed live terminals are shrouded, which reduces the risk of an accidental short when the battery is disconnected.

What is in the kit?

A male and female T-Plug connector pair plus heat-shrink tubing to insulate the soldered joints and provide strain relief. You solder the connectors onto your gun wiring and battery leads, then seal each joint with the heat shrink.

Do I need any tools or skills to fit it?

Yes, this is a solder job. You will need a soldering iron, solder and a heat source for the shrink tube. Take care to keep polarity correct. If you are not comfortable soldering AEG wiring, our Kent workshop can fit it for you.

Will it work with my LiPo battery?

Yes. T-Plug is the preferred connector for LiPo use precisely because it handles higher current with less heat and voltage drop than Tamiya. Many batteries are already sold with a T-Plug fitted, so converting your gun to match is a sensible upgrade.
