What it is

The Big Dragon Anti-Reverse Latch is a small but vital gearbox part that keeps your AEG running the way it should. It works with the ratchet teeth on the bevel gear so the gears can only spin in one direction, holding the spring safely under tension every time the motor stops.

Why it matters

A worn or broken anti-reverse latch is one of the most common causes of a locked-up gearbox and stripped teeth. When the latch stops gripping, the spring can drive the gears backwards and hammer the piston, leading to bigger, more expensive damage. Swapping in a fresh latch is a cheap way to protect the parts around it.

Who it suits

This is an ideal pick-up for anyone servicing a gearbox, chasing an intermittent fault, or simply topping up their spares box before a game. It is a genuine tech part, so it assumes you are happy splitting a gearbox shell.

Fitting and support

Fitting means opening the gearbox, seating the latch and its spring, then reassembling. If that is beyond your comfort zone, our Kent airsoft repair workshop can handle it, and you can browse more spares in our airsoft accessories range.

Frequently asked questions

What does an anti-reverse latch actually do?

It sits against the bevel gear and only lets the gears turn one way. When the motor stops, it holds the spring under tension instead of letting the gears whip backwards, which protects your piston, gears and sector.

How do I know mine has failed?

Common signs are the gearbox locking up mid-cycle, the motor struggling to release, or a grinding noise. A chipped or rounded latch tooth usually needs replacing rather than repairing.

Will this fit my gearbox?

It is designed for standard AEG gearboxes. Because latch shapes vary slightly between gearbox versions, compare it against your old part before fitting, or ask our in-house techs if you are unsure.

Can I fit it myself?

Yes if you are comfortable opening a gearbox, as it needs the shell split to install. If you would rather not, our Kent workshop can fit it as part of a service.

Is this a UKARA or age-restricted item?

No. It is an internal spare part, not a gun or ammunition, so there is no UKARA or 18-plus requirement to buy it.
