The GATE ASTER V2 is an optical drop-in ETU and MOSFET for Version 2 gearboxes, giving you a big slice of GATE’s advanced fire-control technology at a very accessible price. It swaps the fragile mechanical trigger contacts for a durable optical proximity sensor and adds programmable functions that transform how your AEG behaves.

Optical trigger, real responsiveness

The optical trigger offers up to 250 sensitivity settings, so you can tune exactly how far the trigger must travel before it fires. Combined with pre-cocking, which keeps the piston partially drawn back, the result is a genuinely snappy, near-instant shot that makes semi-auto play far more competitive.

Configurable to your play style

Out of the box on Basic firmware you already get pre-cocking, rate-of-fire control, active braking and a binary trigger. Configure fire-selector combinations such as safe, semi, burst and auto to suit your rifle and your site rules. Upgrade to Advanced or Expert firmware in the GATE Control Station app for deeper control.

Looks after your battery

ASTER runs LiPo and LiFe packs with selectable per-cell cut-off voltages and a manual mode spanning 3 to 12.75 volts, so NiMH packs are covered too. A low-battery warning and reverse-polarity protection help prevent expensive mistakes. Programming the full feature set needs a USB-Link or Blu-Link, sold separately.

What is the difference between Basic and Advanced firmware?

ASTER ships with Basic firmware, which already includes pre-cocking, ROF control, active braking and a binary trigger. Advanced is a firmware upgrade in the GATE Control Station app that adds finer control and more fire-selector logic. Expert goes further still for highly tuned builds.

Do I need a USB-Link to upgrade or program it?

You can set many functions using the trigger and selector alone. To upgrade the firmware to Advanced or Expert and access the full configuration, you need a USB-Link or Blu-Link with the GATE Control Station app. Neither dongle is included with the standard module.

Does ASTER use an optical trigger?

Yes. ASTER replaces the mechanical trigger contacts with an optical proximity sensor offering up to 250 sensitivity settings. GATE's Quantum trigger is designed specifically to work with this optical system and is recommended for the finest sensitivity tuning.

Which battery types can I run?

ASTER supports LiPo and LiFe with selectable per-cell cut-off voltages, and a manual mode across a 3 to 12.75v range that also suits typical NiMH packs. It includes a low-battery warning and reverse-polarity protection to look after your gear.

Is it hard to fit?

It is a drop-in unit for standard V2 gearboxes, but installing any ETU correctly takes care and a clean solder or connector job. If you are not confident, our Kent workshop can fit and program it so you know it is done properly.
