Purpose-built for spoon carving

The Morakniv 162 Double Edge Hook Knife is the tool green woodworkers reach for when hollowing spoons, bowls and scoops. Its tight-curve hook, with a 15mm internal radius, is shaped to glide along the inside of a concave form without digging in or catching, giving you clean, controlled cuts.

Cut in both directions

Both edges of the hook are sharpened, so you can carve on the push stroke and the pull stroke. That flexibility lets you follow the grain and work efficiently from either side, speeding up the job and improving the finish inside tight curves.

Quality Swedish steel and handle

The 55mm blade is forged from Sandvik 12C27 Swedish stainless steel, hardened to 56.5 HRC for a keen, durable edge that strops back to razor sharpness. An oiled birchwood handle with a full rat-tail tang gives a warm, secure grip and the strength to work hard wood. The whole knife weighs just 62g for nimble control.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Morakniv 162 used for?

It is a dedicated spoon and bowl carving knife. The tight-curve hook blade is made to hollow out scoops, bowls and other concave shapes, gliding along the inside surface without catching.

Why is it double-edged?

Both edges of the hook are sharpened, so you can carve on both the push and the pull stroke. That lets you work efficiently in either direction and follow the grain without constantly repositioning the workpiece.

Is there an age restriction on this knife?

Yes. This is a bladed article, so UK law means you must be 18 or over to buy it. We ask for proof of ID before dispatch and send it via an age-verified delivery service, where the courier checks ID on the doorstep.

Does it come sharp and ready to use?

Morakniv knives arrive sharp from the factory. The 55mm 12C27 stainless blade is hardened to 56.5 HRC, holds a keen edge, and can be stropped to a razor finish for the cleanest carving cuts.

What is included in the box?

You get the 162 Double Edge Hook Knife with its oiled birch handle plus a leather blade cover, made in Sweden from vegetable-tanned leather, to protect the edge and store the knife safely.
