Dependable 9V power

The Duracell 9V 6LR61 is a genuine Duracell alkaline battery in the familiar rectangular PP3 form factor with a snap connector on top. It delivers the reliable, long-life power Duracell is known for across everyday household and hobby electronics.

Where you will use it

This is one of the most widely used battery sizes going. It powers smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, multimeters and test equipment, microphones, and plenty of airsoft and shooting accessories including chronographs and detectors. If a device takes a 9V battery, this is the cell it needs.

Standards and specification

Also known by its IEC code 6LR61 and ANSI code 1604A, it uses proven alkaline zinc-manganese dioxide chemistry at a 9V nominal voltage. The standard PP3 body measures roughly 48.5 by 26.5 by 17.5 mm and weighs about 45 g, so it drops into any device built for the format.

Single use, please recycle

This is a single-use primary cell and should not be recharged. When it is spent, recycle it at a battery collection point. Need cells and power for your kit? Browse our BBs, gas and batteries range for more.

Frequently asked questions

What is this battery used for?

The 9V PP3 size powers a wide range of devices: smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, multimeters and test equipment, microphones, and many hobby and airsoft accessories such as chronographs and detectors. It is one of the most common battery formats in the home.

Is 6LR61 the same as PP3 and 9V?

Yes. 6LR61 is the IEC designation, 1604A is the ANSI code, PP3 is the common name and 9V is the everyday label, all referring to the same rectangular battery with a snap connector on top.

How long will it last?

Runtime depends entirely on the device and how hard it draws current. In low-drain devices like smoke alarms a Duracell 9V can last a very long time, while higher-drain electronics will deplete it faster. It offers roughly 550 to 700 mAh depending on the load.

Is it rechargeable?

No. This is a single-use primary alkaline cell. It should not be recharged. When it is spent, please recycle it at a battery collection point rather than binning it.

Will it fit my device that takes a 9V battery?

Yes, as long as your device specifies a standard 9V, PP3 or 6LR61 battery it will fit and work. The dimensions and snap terminals are a universal standard.
