Slim 1.5V alkaline power

The GP AAAA is a genuine 1.5V alkaline battery in the slim, cylindrical AAAA format. It delivers reliable long-life power for the compact, low-drain devices that need this less common but very useful cell size.

Where it is used

AAAA cells power laser pointers, penlights and small LED torches, active stylus pens, and a range of miniature electronics and instruments. If your device is marked AAAA or LR8D425, this GP cell is the correct replacement.

Not to be confused with AAA

An AAAA is thinner and shorter than a standard AAA, measuring roughly 42.5 mm long by 8.0 mm in diameter, so the two do not interchange. Also known by its IEC code LR8D425 and GP’s own code 25A, it uses dependable alkaline zinc-manganese dioxide chemistry.

Specification and recycling

It offers around 600 mAh of capacity at 1.5V nominal. As a single-use primary cell it must not be recharged, and should be recycled at a battery collection point when spent. For more batteries and power for your kit, see our BBs, gas and batteries range.

Frequently asked questions

What devices use an AAAA battery?

AAAA cells are slim and long, and power compact low-drain devices such as laser pointers, penlights, small LED torches, active stylus pens and some miniature remotes and medical instruments. Check your device for the AAAA or LR8D425 marking.

Is AAAA the same as LR8D425 or 25A?

Yes. AAAA is the common name, LR8D425 is the IEC designation and 25A is GP's own product code, all referring to the same 1.5V alkaline cell. They are interchangeable in any device that takes an AAAA battery.

Is an AAAA the same as an AAA?

No. An AAAA is noticeably thinner and shorter than an AAA. At around 42.5 mm long and 8.0 mm in diameter it will not substitute for an AAA, so make sure your device specifically calls for AAAA.

How long will it last?

With around 600 mAh of alkaline capacity it suits low-drain devices well, giving long service in items like laser pointers and stylus pens. Actual runtime depends on how much current your device draws.

Is it rechargeable?

No. This is a single-use primary alkaline cell and should not be recharged. Please recycle it at a battery collection point once it is spent.
