Jetboil CrunchIt recycling tool

The CrunchIt lets you deal with empty gas canisters responsibly. It safely vents any residual gas, then punctures the canister so it can go in the recycling bin instead of landfill.

How it works

Screw the tool onto an empty threaded canister so any remaining gas vents off, then push down to puncture it. It is a foolproof, one-handed job. Always do this outdoors, away from flames or ignition sources, and check your local recycling rules before disposal.

Built tough and useful

Made from rugged stainless steel, it clips to a carabiner or key ring so it travels with your stove kit. The handle doubles as a bottle opener and includes a jet orifice wrench for stove maintenance.

Camp and field cooking

A small, inexpensive tool that keeps your camp tidy and your conscience clear, and it lives happily in any cook kit. See more stoves and cooking gear in our outdoor range.

Frequently asked questions

Does this contain any fuel?

No. The CrunchIt is a tool that punctures empty canisters. It does not contain gas or fuel itself.

Why puncture a canister?

Recyclers usually will not accept sealed gas canisters. Venting and puncturing an empty canister marks it as safe and empty for recycling.

Is it safe to use?

Yes. You screw it onto the empty canister so any residual gas vents first, then puncture. Always do this outdoors, away from ignition sources.

Which canisters does it fit?

Jetboil Jetpower and many other threaded (screw on) butane or isobutane canisters.

What else does it do?

The handle includes a bottle opener and a jet orifice wrench for stove maintenance.
