One Piece Beats Three

A jointed rod has joints, and joints are where a rod flexes and where grit collects. Both of those end up against your rifling. A one piece rod is stiffer, cleans more effectively and cannot trap abrasive material in a threaded junction. If you are cleaning a rifle properly rather than occasionally, this is the design to have.

Stiff Inside, Soft Outside

The clever part is the construction: a hardened and tempered steel core for stiffness, wrapped in a tough acetate covering so nothing hard ever touches the bore. You get the rigidity of steel with the barrel safety of a soft rod, which is a better answer than choosing between them.

Pick Your Handle Colour

Parker Hale colour code them. Red handles are the small calibre rods, black are for larger calibres. Choose to match what you shoot, because a rod that is too thin for the bore will flex and one that is too thick will not go in.

Threads

Available with either a male thread for Parker Hale brushes or a female thread for the popular American pattern. Check what your existing jags and brushes use before ordering, and pick the matching option above. Everything else you need is in our shooting range.

Frequently asked questions

Red handle or black handle?

Red is for small calibres, black for larger ones. Match it to what you shoot: a rod too thin for the bore flexes, and one too thick will not fit.

Male or female thread?

Male takes Parker Hale brushes, female takes the popular American pattern. Check what your existing brushes and jags use and pick the matching option.

Will the steel core damage my barrel?

No. The core is covered in a tough acetate sleeve, so nothing hard touches the bore. You get the stiffness of steel with the safety of a soft rod.

Why not a take down rod?

Joints flex and collect grit, and both end up working against your rifling. A one piece rod is stiffer and cleaner, which is why it is the serious choice.
