The original, reinvented

The Therm-a-Rest RidgeRest Classic is a revival of the mat that defined closed-cell foam sleeping. Built from the most durable foam Therm-a-Rest use, it is designed to last many years and deliver exceptional value to campers who want dependable, basic comfort without the fuss of inflation.

Warmth from the ground up

With an R-value of 2.0, the RidgeRest lifts you off cold ground and keeps body heat where it belongs. The distinctive ridged surface is not just for looks: the raised peaks and valleys trap a layer of warm air beneath you and add a welcome degree of cushioning over uneven terrain.

Virtually indestructible

Because it is solid closed-cell foam, there is nothing to puncture and nothing to fail. Throw it down on rocks, roots or gravel without a second thought. That toughness makes it a firm favourite for bivvy nights, wild camping and hard-use expeditions where an inflatable mat is a liability.

Light and ready to go

Light enough to carry anywhere and quick to deploy, the RidgeRest simply unrolls and is ready to use. There is no pump, no valve and no waiting. For airsofters staying over at a weekend site or campers after a rugged, reliable pad, it is a proven choice at a great price.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to inflate this mat?

No. The RidgeRest Classic is a closed-cell foam mat, so there is nothing to inflate and nothing to go wrong. You simply unroll it and it is ready, which makes it fast to set up and impossible to puncture flat.

How warm is it on cold ground?

It carries an R-value of 2.0, which provides solid three-season insulation from the cold ground. The ridged surface traps a layer of warm air beneath you to boost comfort and heat retention.

Is it comfortable to sleep on?

The signature ridged design gives supportive peaks and heat-trapping valleys that add cushioning over rocks, roots and hard surfaces. It is firmer than an inflatable pad but reliably comfortable and completely worry-free.

How durable is it?

Extremely. Made from tough cross-linked polyethylene foam, it is virtually indestructible and shrugs off the sharp ground and rough handling that would puncture an inflatable mat, so it lasts for many years.

Is it suitable for backpacking and bivvy nights?

Yes. It is light enough to carry anywhere and, because it cannot deflate, it is a favourite for bivvy bag nights, wild camping and expedition use where reliability matters more than pack size.
