Warm light that has stood the test of time

The UCO Original Candle Lantern has kept campers company for decades. It throws a soft, natural glow that takes the chill and the damp out of a tent, awning or backyard evening, and needs no batteries to do it. Simply light the candle and enjoy up to 9 hours of steady light.

Clever, reliable design

A spring-loaded tube pushes the candle upward as it burns, holding the flame at a constant height for even light right to the end. The windproof glass chimney shields the flame from draughts, while a side viewing slot lets you check how much candle is left at a glance.

Packs small, goes anywhere

The lightweight aluminium body collapses from around 17cm open down to roughly 11cm closed, protecting the glass and tucking neatly into a pack. It is ideal for backpacking, mountaineering, snow camping and emergency kit.

Choose your colour and candle

Available in black, green, pink and red, and compatible with UCO’s 9-hour, beeswax and citronella candles so you can tailor burn time or repel insects. Do not leave this product unattended while in use.

How long does one candle last?

A standard UCO candle gives up to 9 hours of light. The spring-loaded tube pushes the candle up as it burns so the flame stays at a constant, steady height throughout.

Is it safe to use in wind?

The glass chimney shields the flame from draughts and light wind, making it far more reliable than an open candle. Never leave any candle lantern unattended while lit.

Does it pack down small?

Yes. The lantern collapses from around 17cm open to about 11cm closed, protecting the glass chimney and slipping easily into a rucksack side pocket.

What candles does it take?

It uses UCO Original candles including standard 9-hour, natural beeswax and citronella versions, so you can choose light, longer burn time or insect-repelling options.

Can I use it indoors?

It works well in tents, cabins and awnings for gentle light and a little warmth, but always ensure ventilation, keep it clear of fabric, and never leave it burning unattended.
