Overview

The ASG Ultimate Upgrade Series 8mm Steel Ball Bearings (Gen 2) are a six-piece set of ball bearing bushings for airsoft AEG gearboxes. They replace plain bushings to support the gear axles and let the gears spin with less friction, giving smoother, faster and more efficient cycling.

Why upgrade

This second-generation design features an optimised track surface that minimises ball skid and heat build-up, delivering the high rotational speed and rigidity needed in modern upgraded AEGs. Rolling contact reduces drag on the gears, which can improve trigger response and ease load on the motor.

Fitment and compatibility

The set fits gearboxes machined for 8mm bushings, which covers most V2, V3 and similar shells. There are six bearings so you can support the bevel, spur and sector gears on both sides of the gearbox. Confirm your bore size, as 6mm and 9mm gearboxes are also common.

Fitting and servicing

Ball bearings must be installed with correct shimming to run reliably, so fitting is best done during a service. Our airsoft repair and servicing team in Kent can fit and reshim your gearbox, or browse more airsoft accessories and parts to complete your rebuild.

Which gearboxes do they fit?

They fit airsoft AEG gearboxes machined for 8mm bushings, which covers most V2, V3 and similar shells. Check your gearbox bore size before ordering, as 6mm and 9mm versions also exist.

Why choose ball bearings over plain bushings?

Ball bearings roll rather than slide, reducing friction for smoother, faster gear rotation. That helps trigger response and can lower stress on the motor in high-speed builds.

Are ball bearings suitable for very high rates of fire?

ASG designed the Gen 2 track to minimise ball skid and heat build-up for high-speed use. For extreme setups some builders prefer solid bushings, but for most upgraded AEGs these are an excellent choice.
