An essential Leave No Trace tool
The Coghlan’s Back Packers Trowel is a simple, lightweight digging tool for the outdoors. It is ideal for digging cat holes, an essential part of following Leave No Trace principles when you are away from facilities, and handy for tent pegs and small camp jobs too.
Light enough to forget
Made from high-impact ABS plastic, the trowel weighs just 55g (2oz), so it slips into your pack and is easily forgotten until you need it. It is a favourite of ultralight backpackers who want to keep pack weight to a minimum.
Cuts through the ground
Beveled edges help the blade bite into firmer soil, and the ribbed back and moulded handle give it useful rigidity for a plastic tool. Measurement markings on the blade let you gauge how deep you have dug. Bear in mind that, like any plastic trowel, it can struggle on very hard, rocky ground.
Easy to keep track of
Its bright colour makes it difficult to lose against the ground or in leaf litter, and the comfortable handle is sized for a full grip. A cheap, dependable piece of kit that earns its place in a backpacking wash kit.
