Hop-up nubs and tensioners are the first point of contact between your rifle and the BB, and that contact determines how stable the BB is in flight. The Prometheus Flat Hop Tensioner, made in Japan by LayLax, is designed to dramatically increase the surface area the bucking presses onto the BB, giving a flatter, more even hop for noticeably better range and consistency.

Built for flat hop and R-hop

If you are putting together a flat hop or R-hop build, this tensioner is a key ingredient. It lengthens the contact patch so the hop is applied smoothly rather than through a single pressure point, which is exactly what those builds are trying to achieve.

Combine the tensioner with the Prometheus flat hop bucking (known to many as Prommy Blue) for optimal performance. Together they transform how your hop unit grips the BB.

Fitting and tuning

This is an internal part, so it needs the hop-up unit stripping to install. If you would rather leave it to a specialist, our Kent airsoft repair and servicing team can fit and tune it, or browse more upgrade parts in our airsoft accessories.

What does a hop tensioner actually do?

The nub presses the bucking down onto the BB. This flat nub spreads that pressure over a larger area, giving a longer, more even contact patch that stabilises the BB and improves range and accuracy.

Do I need a special bucking to use it?

For best results pair it with a flat hop or R-hop bucking such as the Prometheus flat hop bucking (Prommy Blue). It is designed to work as part of a flat hop build.

Will it fit my gearbox?

It uses a universal design that fits most Tokyo Marui spec AEG hop-up units and the many clones based on them. Check your hop unit style if you run an unusual platform.

Is fitting it a big job?

It is an internal upgrade that means opening the hop-up unit. If you are not confident stripping your hop chamber, our Kent workshop can fit and tune it for you.

Soft or hard nub?

Prometheus flat nubs are commonly offered as soft (for sub-400fps setups) and hard (for higher power). Match the nub to your rifle's power for the best seal.
