Overview

This Metal Flat Piston Head for AEG gearboxes is a CNC-machined aluminium upgrade with an integrated ball bearing and a double O-ring seal. It is designed to solve two common problems in a stock gearbox: inconsistent air seal and main-spring torsion.

Ball bearing benefit

The built-in ball bearing allows the main spring to rotate freely as it compresses. Relieving that twist reduces spring stress and can add a small, repeatable gain in muzzle velocity, while making cycling feel smoother.

Double O-ring sealing

Two O-rings ride against the cylinder wall to tighten the air seal. Better sealing means more consistent compression and steadier FPS shot after shot, which helps range and accuracy.

Fitting and compatibility

The flat-face profile suits standard AEG cylinder setups and fits most common gearboxes. As with any piston-head change, check clearance, shimming and angle of engagement during the build. Our Kent airsoft repair service can install and test it, and you can find more parts under airsoft accessories.

Frequently asked questions

What does the ball bearing do?

The bearing lets the main spring rotate freely as it compresses, relieving spring twist and torsion. This reduces stress on the spring and can add a small, consistent amount of muzzle velocity.

Why a double O-ring head?

Two O-rings improve the air seal between the piston head and cylinder wall, giving more consistent compression and steadier FPS shot to shot.

Will a flat piston head fit my gun?

A flat-face head suits standard AEG cylinder setups and fits most common gearboxes. Check clearance against your piston, cylinder head and nozzle when building for full compression.

Do I need to re-shim or set AoE after fitting?

Fitting a piston head can slightly change piston geometry, so it is good practice to check angle of engagement, piston-to-cylinder-head clearance and shimming during assembly.

Will it increase my FPS a lot?

No. The gain from improved sealing and reduced spring twist is small and consistent rather than dramatic. Larger FPS changes come from the main spring, which must be chronographed to your site limits.
