The foundation of a smooth gearbox

Shimming is one of the most important jobs in any airsoft gearbox, and this Rocket (SHS) mixed set gives you everything you need. Twenty-seven steel shims in three thicknesses let you set each gear precisely rather than making do with whatever came in the box.

What is in the set

You get nine shims each in 0.1mm, 0.15mm and 0.2mm. Stacking these thicknesses lets you build up exactly the right spacing for the spur, bevel and sector gears, so there is enough here for a full build with spares left over.

Why it matters

Proper shimming aligns the gears and controls their end float, the small amount of side-to-side movement. Get it right and the gearbox runs quieter, spins more freely and suffers far less wear on gears and bushings. Get it wrong and you get noise, drag and premature failure.

Made to last

The shims are steel for durability, so they will not deform under load like softer materials can. Pair them with fresh bearings or bushings from our airsoft accessories, or let our Kent repair and servicing team do the work.

Frequently asked questions

What sizes are included?

You get 27 steel shims in total: nine at 0.1mm, nine at 0.15mm and nine at 0.2mm. That mix lets you dial in each gear precisely.

Why does shimming matter?

Correct shimming keeps the gears aligned and controls how much they move side to side. Get it right and the gearbox runs quieter, more efficiently and with far less wear on the gears and bushings.

Will this set fit my AEG?

Yes. It suits all standard AEG gearboxes, including V2, V3 and others, because shimming is done by stacking thicknesses to suit your specific gears.

How many shims will I actually use?

It varies by gearbox and gears, but a single build rarely uses more than a handful per gear. The 27-piece set leaves you plenty spare for future work.

Do I need special tools to shim?

No specialist tools beyond what you already use to open a gearbox. Patience and trial fitting are the main requirements. Our Kent servicing team can shim it for you if you prefer.
