Overview

The ZCI High Speed Piston with Reinforced Metal Teeth is a full-rack upgrade piston aimed at fast-cycling AEG builds. It blends a light nylon-fibre polymer body with a full set of reinforced steel teeth for a strong, affordable upgrade.

Speed and strength balance

The lightweight body reduces reciprocating mass to help the gearbox cycle quickly, while the full steel rack keeps the piston durable under the loads a high rate-of-fire setup produces. The rack is supported at both front and rear for added strength.

AoE-friendly out of the box

ZCI removes the second tooth so the piston engages the sector gear at a better angle from the start. This reduces shock on first pickup, which helps both piston life and gearbox efficiency.

Compatibility and fitting

The piston fits Version 2 and Version 3 gearboxes, with a reference weight around 34g for the 15-tooth version. Piston changes should be shimmed and clearance-checked during the build. Our Kent airsoft repair team can build and test it, and more upgrade parts are listed under airsoft accessories.

Frequently asked questions

What makes this a high speed piston?

It combines a lightweight nylon-fibre polymer body with a full steel rack. The lighter body helps the piston cycle faster while the steel teeth keep it strong, which suits high rate-of-fire builds.

Why is the second tooth removed?

Removing the second tooth improves the angle of engagement out of the box, so the piston meets the sector gear more cleanly. This helps piston longevity and gearbox efficiency without further modification.

Which gearboxes does it fit?

It is compatible with Version 2 and Version 3 AEG gearboxes. Always test-fit and check clearance in your specific gearbox before final assembly.

Is it strong enough for a high-power build?

The reinforced full-metal rack is supported front and rear and is intended for high-stress, high-speed setups. For very high spring loads a full AoE correction is still recommended.

How much does it weigh?

A reference figure for the 15-tooth version is around 34g gross. Exact weight varies by tooth count and batch, so treat it as a guide rather than a precise spec.
