What Makes a Good Budget Airsoft Gun?
Before we get into specific recommendations, here’s what separates a good budget gun from a waste of money:
- Reliable gearbox, A metal gearbox that won’t strip gears or crack after a few game days. CYMA, Double Eagle and Specna Arms all use proven gearbox designs even in their cheapest models.
- Adjustable hop-up, Essential for accuracy. Any gun without adjustable hop-up isn’t worth buying at any price.
- Standard parts compatibility, V2 or V3 gearbox means upgrade parts are cheap and widely available when you’re ready.

The CYMA CM.028 is arguably the most recommended budget airsoft gun of all time and for good reason. It’s been in production for over a decade, the V3 gearbox is virtually indestructible and it performs significantly above its price point.

Your gun budget isn’t your total budget. Factor in these essentials:
